Everything You Might Have Missed at the 2018 SHOT Show

Everything You Might Have Missed at the 2018 SHOT Show

This year's Shooting, Hunter and Outdoor Trade Show (SHOT Show) marked the 40th anniversary of the event. Held at the Sands Expo Center in Las Vegas, NV, the event ran from January 23 to 26. It is the largest show of this type in the entire world, so even if you were among the 60,000-plus attendees, you might not have had a chance to see everything the show had to offer. Here's a look at some of the highlights of this year's event.

Handguns

For the handguns on display this year, size mattered. In this case, the smaller, the better. Take the SIG Sauer P365, for example. This handgun is small enough to carry in your pocket but still packs a punch with a 12 round capacity of  9mm. The Glock 19X was another standout from this year's show. Although it has the full-sized frame you know and love from the popular G17, this gun features a smaller slide, making it more versatile for a variety of applications, including concealed carry

Long-Range Firearms

On Range Day, select attendees and members of the media got the chance to test out some of the hottest rifles to hit the market this year. The IWI Tavor TS12 Shotgun was one of the most powerful entries in this year's show. What truly sets it apart, though, is its gargantuan ammo capacity of 15+1 2-3/4-inch shells in three rotating magazines. For the everyman, the Ruger Precision Rimfire rifle is a great choice. It combines the quality of Ruger engineering with an affordable price for both the firearm and ammo.

Accessories

Of course, the best guns require the best accessories to complement them, and this year's SHOT Show had no shortage of exciting new options. The Crimson Trace Rail Master Pro encompasses both a red laser and a white light in one tiny unit which fits on most pistols which have a M1913 Picatinny or Weaver style rail. Also in the mix was Winchester’s new Super Suppressed ammunition. Available in 5 calibers ranging from 22 long rifle to 308 Winchester, this ammo is designed to fire at less than 1100 fps and optimize the effectiveness of the many suppressors available on the market today.
